Cheyenne Drytex Black

The Barefoot 'Cheyenne' treeless saddle NEW now with thick soft panels

News: The popular Barefoot Cheyenne is now also available in a synthetic Drytex material for $775 unmounted. We are offering this model in seat sizes (0,1&2) and in two colours: black colour. A new synthetic 'small kids Cheyenne' has also arrived and this little cuty retails at $395

This new cheaper line of Cheyenne saddles have the new sturdy VPS panels for improved spinal clearance and weight distribution. They are exactly the same as the leather Cheyenne's just the upper material is different. Please see photo's on the left when you scroll down this page.

The Cheyenne is the perfect all purpose saddle and is suitable for dressage, endurance, CTR, pleasure, natural horsemanship, camp drafting and jumping the occasional log. It looks like a cross between a halfbreed and a traditional Spanish dressage saddle. The Cheyenne is very popular amongst light and middle weight endurance riders and we had saddles in the last 2 Quilty's, the NSW, Qld, Tasmanian, Vic and W.A State Chamionships and countless other rides. This saddle is nowadays being used by hundreds of riders in Australia and it is safe to claim that the Cheyenne is the most popular treeless saddle in the world today.

All endurance riders interested in purchasing a Cheyenne saddle need to read the FAQ page of this website please.

This saddle is extremely safe and comfortable for horse and rider and the contact is superb. The Cheyenne saddle does not restrict the horse's movement, so your horse will move with more freedom and ease. The Cheyenne can be adjusted and due to its flexibility will comfortably fit 99% of horses, pony's, mules and donkeys. You can ride all your horses in the one saddle and if you make some minimal adjustments even extremely differently shaped horses.

Pommel inserts made of fiberglass are available in three sizes plus we have a fully flexible soft pommel available for extremely low withered - wide shouldered horses. The pommel piece is easy to exchange via a zippered openings. The saddles come standard with a medium size gullet included in the price.

The saddles are made of vegetable-cured environmentally friendly Nubuck leather. A therapeutic underlay is necessary at all times with all Barefoot saddles. Please talk to us and we will recommend the correct pad for you and your horse as this will depend on your weight, the horse' conformation and your preferred discipline of riding.

The girth straps are specially reinforced with Nylon and have two long points. Please note: Any rigid girth and all unpadded buckles compromise your horse's welfare! (would you enjoy to go jogging in a corset while carrying a backpack?) We therefore recommend to use an elasticized girth which is softly padded under the buckles with or without sheepskin sleeve depending on the sensitivity of your horse.

NEW!!

The Cheyenne saddle now has a higher cantle made of a semi-elastic foam material, which is anatomically shaped, to horse and rider. This enhances the horse’s freedom of motion and encourages engagement of the hindquarters and vertical flexion of the back. For the rider this newly designed cantle provides a deep, softly cushioned and very secure seat.

Please feel free to put your own package together to suit your requirements or ask us to help you with your choices. We are happy to give you a quote on your chosen products.

Please note: with all saddles on this website your stirrup leathers need to attach so that the buckles sit by your ankle joints and not under your thigh, otherwise you can easily get pressure points. More info on care and use can be found on the 'care and use' page. The use of safety stirrups is recommended due to the closed stirrup bars.

Warning: Please beware that a number of cheap inferior copies of the Cheyenne saddle are for sale in Australia now. Frankly you just can not expect the same benefits from those saddles. Please don't blame 'treeless concept' if your horse gets sore from one of those copies or if one of those saddles rolls on your horse. Some of these saddles really should never get near a horse judging from what I have seen at tradeshows.
